RELIGION: The fifth grade is studying the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist). They also were learning more about the Christmas Season and many of the church traditions.
MATH: The students are sharpening their knowledge of the addition and multiplication facts, while emphasizing multiplication by 2 and 3 digit whole numbers and decimals.
LITERATURE: The fifth grade is reading the Bible account of Jesus’s birth and writing a book report comparing and contrasting Matthew and Luke’s accounts. They also are picking one of their favorite people and reading a biography or autobiography and then dressing up like them and presenting them to the class.
SCIENCE: The students have been studying matter and energy. They are currently working on building a roller coaster showing potential and kinectic energy. They expect to share them with the rest of the school soon.
SPELLING and LANGUAGE: The fifth graders are working on buiding vocabulary and word learning strategies. They also are practicing their writing skills and continuing to work on perfecting their grammar and punction.
SOCIAL STUDIES: The students are studying geography and landforms.
