Word Families

Exposing children to word families:  (words that end with the same sound and spelling pattern)  is an ideal way to build phonemic awareness and practice basic phonics skills.  Every other  week we will introduce a new word family.  This is the song that helps us learn words from the -at family.   Have your child sing it for you.

 Rat-a-Tat-Cat

(To the tune:  There Were Three Jolly Fishermen)
There was a cat names Rat-a-Tat,
Who sat upon a hat, hat, hat,
Rat-a, Rat-a, Tat-Tat-Tat,
Sat upon a hat, hat, hat,
And now that hat is flat, flat, flat.
