Pre – Reading: The letters we haven been working on are: Pp, Rr, Kk and Jj. We will also learn to read words from the –ake family.
Math: We will continue to work on number recognition 11-20. The children will also be introduced to the concept of place value.
Religion Theme: God Gives Us Gifts and Talents
This week our objective is to help the children understand that God created all people and God made each of us special. God gave us all special gifts and talents.
Writing: We will write in our Journals and if we have school on Wednesday, we will publish a class book: Colorful Mittens.
Social Studies: We learn about Jan Brett. After reading the story The Mitten, I will ask the children to choose their favorite part and draw a picture. We will also choose an animal from the story, make masks and reenact the story for our prayer partners.
Highlights for Catholic Schools week are:
1/30 Monday-Students will make Valentine’s Day cards for the retired priests and religious and Thank You cards for those attending the blood drive.
1/31 Tuesday – Our Parent Activities Council has planned a special treat for the students.
2/1 Wednesday – Sr. Janet Eppolito will speak to the children about vocations.
2/3 Friday – In the afternoon we will close the week with an exciting game of “Are you Smarter than a 5th Grader?” In the evening we will celebrate with the Family Dance hosted by PAC and held at LMS.
